Surprisingly, deletion of STAT3 in oocytes had no effect on fertility indicating that the abundance of STAT3 protein in maturing oocytes and fertilized zygotes is not essential to these developmental stages. In Stat3fl/fl;Amhr2-cre+ females impaired fertility was observed through significantly fewer litters and smaller litter size. Ovulation rate, oocyte fertilization and development to blastocyst were unaffected in this line; however, poor recombination efficiency in granulosa cells had yielded no net change in STAT3 protein abundance. In contrast, uteri from these mice showed STAT3 protein depletion selectively from the stomal compartment. A significant reduction in number of viable fetuses on gestational day 18, increased fetal resorptions and disrupted placental morphology were evident causes of the reduced fertility. In conclusion, this study defines an important role for STAT3 in uterine stromal cells during embryo implantation and the development of a functional placenta.]]> Wed 11 Apr 2018 15:06:51 AEST ]]> DNA double strand breaks but not interstrand crosslinks prevent progress through meiosis in fully grown mouse oocytes https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:15099 Wed 11 Apr 2018 14:49:33 AEST ]]> Towards gene banking amphibian maternal germ lines: short-term incubation, cryoprotectant tolerance and cryopreservation of embryonic cells of the frog, limnodynastes peronii https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:14928 Wed 11 Apr 2018 10:08:24 AEST ]]> Mother-embryo isotope fractionation in the pygmy devilray Mobula kuhlii cf. eregoodootenkee https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:36499 D) and their embryos (7.0–42.3 cm WD) and also yolks and histrotroph, to assess the potential implications for juvenile nutrition and habitat use. Irrespective of their development in the uterus, embryos had similar δ¹³C values in their muscle tissue as the mothers and both had greater values than in the histotroph. During gestation, δ¹³C values increased across all sample types. However, while embryo muscle tissue and the histotroph were associated with increasing ¹⁵N levels during embryonic development, this was depleted in the mothers’ muscle tissue and yolk. Although speculative, the observed variation in stable‐isotope ratios might imply a dietary shift among gravid females during their early gestation. Irrespective of the underlying mechanisms, the results indicate neonates will have relatively greater δ¹⁵N values than post‐partum females, which would probably confound juvenile foraging‐ecology estimates.]]> Tue 26 May 2020 13:53:17 AEST ]]> Plant regeneration: somatic embryogenesis https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:11438 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:14:35 AEDT ]]> Paternal obesity, interventions, and mechanistic pathways to impaired health in offspring https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:20202 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:06:49 AEDT ]]> Meiotic and mitotic Ca²⁺ oscillations affect cell composition in resulting blastocysts https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:6585 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:49:10 AEDT ]]> A comparison of sperm- and IP₃-induced Ca²⁺ release in activated and aging mouse oocytes https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:6584 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:49:10 AEDT ]]> Genetic reprogramming of plant cells in vitro via dedifferentiation or pre-existing stem cells https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:30521 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:25:04 AEDT ]]> Solar cycle predicts folate-sensitive neonatal genotypes at discrete phases of the first trimester of pregnancy: a novel folate-related human embryo loss hypothesis https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:22266 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:17:33 AEDT ]]> Quality control mechanisms responsible for the maintenance of genomic integrity in the female germline https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:33931 Mon 23 Sep 2019 13:28:19 AEST ]]>
